As I mentioned in my last update I was headed to Colorado. I left Quartzsite on January 30. What would have usually taken me 3 to 4 days to get there I ended up doing in 2 days. Due to the weather I had to change my route and the length of time to get there. I went up through Vegas, then took I-15 all the way up to I-70 and straight into Colorado. It was still a beautiful drive.....crossing several state lines...

Coming into Vegas
Got this warning as I came into Vegas LOL!

I love Utah!!

I arrived at my destination near Grand Junction on Jan 31st. It is a beautiful park right on the Colorado River!! Mountains all around.

Once I got settled, I had to check out the park...

View out my window!
My spot...
The river footsteps away.
There are literally hundreds of trails right across the river!! I'm feeling very fortunate to have this opportunity. In exchange for a free place to stay, I will help out in the maintenance department a few days a week!
The first chance I got I went to explore some. There is a path/trail right from the park into the town. Ran into a brewery and some girls scouts! LOL It's a quaint little town.
Sign(s) on the trail to town
Outside the police station haha!
A shot of downtown
Took a break at the brewery!
I get to do all kinds of things and help on many projects....
Grooming the trails in the park
Got to drive the tractor! It has forks on the front. I moved a ton of stuff around the yard getting ready for a new fence project. It was fun!!
Taking care of stuff in one of the other parks that we handle.

I have been here just about a month now and I am loving it!! I help (I can't call it work, it's too much fun and keeps me in good shape!) 3 days and then 4 days to go have more fun!

We had some unpredictable weather for the first week or 2 I was here, but nothing major. The storms seemed to go right around us.

That is snow just across the river, we just got flurries here.
The storms all around produced some crazy sunsets!

I finally got my first hike in across the river.....

All the lakes were frozen
Picture taken from trail on other side of the river. Red arrow is town, blue arrow is the campground, pink arrows is the river. Everything is so close!
Gran Mesa in the distance....

Lots of information on the trails....

This is views of Gran Mesa after one of the storms.....taken in Grand Junction

The weather is starting to get a little better. Temps are in the 40's and 50's during the day but once the sun sets the temps drop way below freezing, high teens, low 20's.
I took advantage of a nice sunny day and went for another hike across the river. My destination was to a cabin I heard about out in the middle of nowhere. It was a great hike!!
The lakes have thawed out. Almost time to start fishing!!

So that brings you up to date. I am really liking it here, making new friends and all the people are super friendly. I am thinking I may just stay for the summer and possibly the winter. We'll see......stay tuned!!

Stay well everybody!!
